For many years, I have had many problems with my bite. My top teeth overlap the bottom teeth on the left side, TMJ clicking on the right side, and I just have no comfortable resting position for my jaws. I've known for a while that the only way to fix this is to get braces again, but until recently, I haven't had the time or guts to fix it. Over the past year, I've seen my dentist, an orthodontist, and a facial reconstructive surgeon to weigh my options, and I have decided to get braces and surgery to fix my problems. I am getting my braces on Monday. After a year, I will get jaw surgery to correct the uneven bite, and braces for another 6 months after that to finalize things.
I am dreading orthodontics so much... When I first got braces in Jr High, I had so much pain I would wake up in the middle of the night yelling "I don't wanna die!" Anyway, it's probably better that I do this now rather than deal with the resulting problems that come about when I get older. |
