For Memorial weekend, Jen and I made a trip down Highway 1 along the Central California Coast, and visited Hearst Castle. The drive was pretty long and windy, but very scenic and pretty. We drove all the way down to Morrow Bay, and ate at a restaurant called Windows on the Water. It had a potentially very nice view of the bay through their large windows, except it was so foggy you couldn't see anything. Hearst castle was pretty cool, but the tours are pretty expensive. They don't let you wander around on your own, so you have to take a tour.
Going back, we went to see the elephant seals, which are in molting season right now. It was pretty cool to see the seals fighting and bashing their necks at each other. You could also see nasty chunks of skin falling off their bodies. We ended the day in Carmel, watching the sunset, where we took what I think is our best picture ever so far. |
