I had the pre-op appointment today for my orthognathic surgery, and I'm getting more excited about it. I saw the models of my teeth after he performed mock surgery on it, and I'm very much looking forward to finally having a normal bite!
In detail, I will be having a maxillary osteotomy to make my upper jaw straight, since it's slanted right now. I will also have a mandibular osteotomy to make my lower jaw straight, because it is also slanted. Also, because the left side of my lower jaw is longer than the right (hence, my lower jaw is shifted right by 4mm), he will also shift my jaw back to the left by shortening the left side. In addition, I will be having surgery on my chin because it is also slanted and shifted over 7mm. My chin will be brought forward a bit, as well as straightened and centered.
The only thing that I'm somewhat worried about is that my nose is kinda sniffly. If it develops into a cold, I won't be able to have the surgery. |
