I went to Nashville for the weekend, on DDR Freak business, but had plenty of time to play as well =). I won't bore anyone with the business side of the trip, so I'll jump right into the other stuff. We had lots of southern country-ish food for cheap: grits, cornbread, biscuits, dumplins...mmm.

On Saturday, we walked around downtown Nashville and stepped into a bar featuring a live country band. Saturday night, we went to the Wildhorse Saloon for some country line dancing, drinking (gotta have Jack Daniels in Tennessee), and live country music. We also tried to figure out how to two-step, which was fun too. Doreen and I were the only Asians in the place, and it was funny that everyone was a head taller than us, including the girls.

Sunday we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It was cool to see original manuscripts, Webb Pierce's "Silver Dollar" car, Elvis's 24k gold leaf piano, and other stuff. This was the most expensive attraction we visited in Nashville, at $15 a person. We went to buy cowboy hats afterward. Doreen got a really nice looking hat for $35. I looked around, but the only hats I thought looked cool were the leather Stetsons, which I wasn't about to buy for $200. As we left the store, the lady said "y'all come back..." which I thought was funny because I didn't know people actually said that in the South.

Overall, Nashville was a really fun place to visit. I probably wouldn't go there again though. However, I am now a fan of country music...
